Almost Four Days at the Hospital

There are four mountains of workload waiting for me but I'm glad I'm home --we're home. After almost four days at the hospital, with an average of two hours of sleep each day -- I could say that my daily 5-6 hours of sleep is total luxury. Lying down on my bed would be, too, versus taking 10 minutes naps on the side of the hospital bed where ykiae is lying.
Sis and I took her to the hospital at 2am last Oct 27 because her fever won't go down or won't go away. Her temperature would drop to 37.5 but then after 20 minutes it would go up again and it goes up to 39.4. Imagine how scared I am. She was admitted and tested for Dengue which, thankfully, we failed.
I think Ykaie got more scared of needles and injections. Paranoid na sya na kada may taong lalapit sa amin ay iinjection-an sya. Pati janitor tinarayan.{"Tutusukin mo ba ko??!"}. And so, nung X-ray-in na sya. I told her that they will just take a picture of her chest.
I think that's why she smiled...LOL! Akala nya totoong picture-taking. Showbiz, may sakit na naka-smile pa....hahaha. Natawa tuloy ako, at kahit wala akong dalang camera...piniktyruran ko using my celfone.
Thankfully, she didn't have any fever after 2 days and we were finally discharged from the hospital yesterday afternoon. She'll just continue medication at home and will go back at the hospital after a week for follow-up check-up.

Thank God she's on her way to recovery...four days with so little sleep was worth it.

Soyami Soya Chips: The Healthier Alternative

I love chips. peanutbutter and my daughter, ykaie loves them too. We eat chips as a snack, whenever we watch tv or movies or even when we're just talking. As we all know chips are not healthy because they are high in fat, sodium and MSG. I'm glad I attended this event last Friday, wherein we are introduced to a "healthier chips"--Soyami Soya Chips.

So what is Soyami Soya Chips?  Well, they are a healthier alternative to potato chips as they are low in fat, made of all natural ingredients, low in sodium, no MSG and has calcium. It also has more protein than carbs making it easier for you to lose weight.
Since Soyami Soya Chips is made from soy, you can get all the benefits that you get from soy when you eat it. Benefits like prevention of osteoporosis and it also reduces the risk of having breast, colon and prostate cancer.
It is so nice that Active Fun launched a healthier alternative to the usual chips on the market. Ykaie loved the original flavor while I loved the white cheddar. She ate a lot after playing inside Active Fun for almost three hours. I guess she got hungry and tired. I didn't worry because she's eating a healthy snack. I will definitely be on the look out for this on the market come first week of November when it goes out.

Ykaie really had fun playing inside Active Fun for three hours. Check out her fun photos...

What to do when there's no electricity..

We had a power outtage for an hour and a half one day last week. We have to think of something we can do to prevent boredom from seeping in. A little "art attack" came into mind.
Before giving Ykaie a bath, we gathered some old newspapers and scotch tape and made a dress for her--complete with headband too!

Unleash your inner Channel or Dior and try this sometime. It's fun.

LP: Tahimik (Mute, Peaceful, Quiet)

Nananahimik akong naglalaba kaninang umaga.

Meet Billy

I have a new friend. His name is Billy. I'm sure you would be glad to meet him if it means that being friends with him means saving a lot of money. Billy is very passionate about saving money and he makes sure that all of his friends never pay the full price again.

One of the things that I like about him is that he gives a lot of useful tips on how to save money. One example is his Tips on How to Save On Grocery Bills. It would really save a lot of money if you make grocery list ahead of time because it prevents you from buying  whatever your eyes lay upon. It would help you focus in buying what you just need. Buying generic brand that also functions like store brands and using coupons will also help pile up your savings.

My favorite among his tips is the 10 Ways To Save on Clothes. I'm guilty of buying clothes whenever I see something that looks good. Shopping for clothes has become a hobby or a past-time and sometimes therapy for many women. His tips will help you maximize what you have and save money. Some of the things that I learned and has been practicing is selling some of the clothes that I don't need and want anymore, buying when clothes are on sale and filling my closet with classic pieces.

Billy is also a great negotiator. He negotiates great deals with retailers and service providers for his friends. This means BIG savings specially on services that costs a lot like moving. If you are planning to move to California for example, you will need to look for affordable movers in California. You have to specify where in California  you'll be moving, of course, because some of the movers only provides service to a specific city only. You can get a lower rate if you'll contact a SF moving company if you're moving to San Francisco. Likewise for Oakland movers if you are moving to Oakland.

These would mean a lot if you are on a tight budget. So, wanna be friends with Billy? I'm sure by this time you're already excited.

Mommy's Day Out by UNILAB

It was really nice to be invited and to be a part of the Mommy's Day Out given by UNILAB last monday. Busy, hardworking moms do need to take a break and treat themselves even for just a day. UNILAB made it all possible and gave us an excuse to get out and pamper ourselves.
It was a very intimate event because only seven made it to the event and our small group of moms easily bonded over a very delicious lunch. We shared blogger, mommy and online job stories.
The Beauty Coach, Ms. Marie Calica shared with us a few simple beauty mantras which will help keep us pretty moms. Let me share a few of them wih you:

I promise to Scrub-a-dub-dub {aka EXFOLIATE}
I will slap on the Face cream {aka MOISTURIZE}
I won't forget my eyes {or my NECK}
Water is my bestfriend
I will say "si" to "E"..Vitamin E that is
I am sleeping beauty
I will use protection {SPF}
I will keep myself fresh and clean

This closet daddy blogger from UNILAB also shared with us the importance of  Quality time apart and quality time together in relationships.
Pretty Makeup Arist Anjie Gogna gave us a Personal Beauty Makeup Workshop. Now, I feel the need to get an eyeliner and I really need to learn how to use one....LOL!
After that we were off to Mane Depot to be given a lot more pampering. We were given a hair spa, a foot spa, a manicure and a pedicure.

It was indeed a great day. I bonded with fellow mom bloggers and I also got to take home a bag full of UNILAB products that will let me continue pampering myself at home. I am so excited to try everything inside this bag.

Little Shoes Has To Fit Those Little Feet

When Ykaie was born we were excited and bought her many set of clothes. She was my first-born, that's why I was really excited. I bought a lot of those cute newborn socks that looks like shoes. I bought those socks in different colors to match her clothes. After a few months, she started walking and that made me even more excited because that meant shopping for Baby Shoes!

I have seen a lot of pretty shoes at the mall and I can't wait to buy them for my daughter's pretty feet. I can still remember the day when we went to the mall to buy her what's going to be her first pair of shoes. This is the day I found out that buying a pair of shoes for a baby is different than buying one for adult. It requires a lot more attention because they can't tell you how it fits. One of her shoes gave her blisters after she wore them for two hours. I was frustrated with that pair because it was branded and a little expensive. I had give it away, she won't be able to use it anyway. It was hard-earned money wasted.

It's not always better to buy expensive branded shoes. Today, I always look for shoes that give protection and support to little feet. I go for brands that have all sizes available. Some brands like Startrite even has different width fittings to match children's feet.

Wondering if the shoe fits those little feet? Check out this video. It provides instructions of how to properly fit riptape girls shoes. The video explains simply what things to look out for to ensure shoes fit your little girl properly.

Happy 2nd Birthday,Yanna!

We celebrated Yanna's 2nd birthday with her four days after her real birthday. Ykaie was excited to go because she knew that she's gonna see Jollibee again!
Ykaie bonded well with Kuya Jeffrey, Rizza's youngest because she already knew him. She also joined the party games eventhough she didn't have any idea what's going on...LOL! She just went with the flow and had fun.
Who I saw there: Romelia, Laarnie & Leigna, Rizza & Jeffrey,  and Luchie & her two kids who I didn't have the chance to "make chika".
Fabulous time for Ykaie..she had her picture with Jollibee and she got to eat her favorite "chicken skin & rice". I was left with a serving of Spaghetti and Palabok. Baka masyado ng humaba ang buhay ko sa pancit at pasta kaya yung spaghetti na lang ang kinain ko at tinake-home ang palabok.

Happy Birthday, Yanna! Hope you love Ate Ykaie's gift!

The Belamar Hotel

You'll probably say that it's too early to prepare an itinerary for peanutbutter's vacation next year but I'd say it's never too early. He will only be on vacation for less than a month so it's better if we already have plans on where we are going to spend it. We've been working for a year without a vacation so next year's break is pretty special, not to mention that it'll be our anniversary month.

I'm looking at manhattan beach hotels over the internet today and I think this would be an ideal vacation getaway location. If you want me to be more specific, it is The Belamar Hotel that I'm talking about. Don't get me wrong, there are many hotels in manhattan beach but The Belamar is one of the top hotels manhattan beach can boast of. Not only does it embody L.A. with its glamorous decor and unique styles, it also embraces diversity and open it's door to people. It is the perfect place being minutes away form the airport and the sands and nightlife of Manhattan & Hermosa Beaches. It is also near L.A.'s finest boutiques --so shopping is a must!

The Belamar is definitely my chosen hotel in manhattan beach.
